| Boiler Plant Modernization VA Medical Center - Clarksburg, WV This project consisted of the removal of two (2) 7,500 PPH boilers, which were replaced by two (2) 12,000 PPH firetube three pass wet back steam generators. A system analysis was performed to optimize the type and capacity of boilers required to serve the existing building loads as well as to evaluate alternate piping and pumping options to improve plant efficiency. A new control system for the two new boilers was designed as well. This project also included removal of an existing 170- foot brick boiler stack, a partial exterior wall, in addition to various piping, supports, etc. associated with the existing boilers. The construction documents included a detailed phasing plan to maintain continuous plant operation and minimize disturbance to the main hospital. The testing and identification for asbestos and hazardous heavy metals of the boilers, stack, and miscellaneous piping was performed. |
