CHILLED WATER
RI provides services for the planning, design, and operation of chilled water
systems ranging in capacity from a single building plant to multiple plants serving a municipality. RI's chilled water system experience ranges up to 75,000 tons of refrigeration utilizing various prime movers. The use of thermal energy is employed to increase reliability as well as to reduce operating costs. Variable primary, primary/secondary, secondary/tertiary, and distributed pumping systems are utilized.
STEAM
RI consults for the planning, design, and operation of the generation and distribution of saturated and superheated steam systems. Optimization of pressure and steam characteristics are routinely developed utilizing standard compressible hydraulic models as well as in-house programs for complex heat and mass balances.
HTHW
RI has extensive experience in the planning, design, and operation of high temperature hot water systems. While HTHW is many times overlooked by the district energy field, this method of delivering heat is efficient, safe, and cost-effective.
ELECTRIC
RI's electrical engineers are experts in the generation and distribution of electrical systems up to 35 kV and 200 MVA. Emergency power systems employing a variety of sources such as engines, steam and combustion turbines, and flywheels are applied to both life/safety and critical applications.
COGENERATION
RI provides planning, design, and operational services for combined heat power systems utilizing combustion turbines and engines with heat recovery steam generation as well as steam-based cogeneration systems utilizing extraction and backpressure turbines.
